HAIR CARE

Love Your Hair Back

Everything you need to keep your human hair soft, defined and tangle-free, from your first install to your next one.

How to Maintain Your Boho Braids

You invested in real human hair, so let's make it last. A few minutes of care a day keeps your braids looking fresh for the whole install, and keeps the hair in good enough shape to wear again.

Every bundle we sell is 100% human hair. It behaves like your own hair: it drinks up moisture, responds to your products, and tangles if it's ignored.

Boho braids care essentials: satin bonnet, wide-tooth comb, spray bottle and hair care products for human hair

►Every day

  • Lightly mist your curls with water to wake them up.
  • Work a small amount of leave-in through the hair, then scrunch.
  • Add a light layer of mousse to bring your curl pattern back.
  • Keep products light. Build-up weighs curls down, attracts lint and leads to matting.
  • Keep your hands off. The more you touch your curls, the faster they frizz.

►Wash day, every 1–2 weeks

  1. Dilute your shampoo with water and focus it on your scalp.
  2. Squeeze the suds gently down the hair. Never rub the curls.
  3. Condition the loose hair generously and detangle with your fingers.
  4. Rinse, then squeeze out the water with a microfibre towel or t-shirt.
  5. Let your braids dry completely. Damp braids can develop mildew and a smell.

►Every night

Night routine for human hair boho braids: satin bonnet and silk pillowcase

  1. Gently separate any tangles with your fingers.
  2. Gather your hair in a loose high pineapple or two big twists.
  3. Cover it with a satin bonnet or scarf, or sleep on a silk pillowcase.

Cotton pulls moisture out of the hair and causes friction, which is where frizz and knots start.

►Products I trust

  • Olaplex for repair and strength. It's what I use on my own hair.
  • OGX shampoo and conditioner. It's what I use on my clients' hair.
  • A light, alcohol-free mousse for definition.
  • Skip heavy, greasy oils and products with drying alcohols.
When you pay for quality hair, invest in quality products too.

►Humid days

Humidity makes human hair puff up, and that's normal. Add a little extra leave-in, refresh with water and mousse, and let your curls settle.

►Reusing your hair

Treated well, human hair can be washed and reinstalled.

  1. Take your braids down gently, working from the ends up.
  2. Detangle slowly with your fingers, then a wide-tooth comb.
  3. Wash, deep condition and let the hair air-dry completely.
  4. Store it in a silk or satin bag until your next install.
One of my clients wore her boho braids to an event, came back two months later, and I washed and reinstalled the same hair. She's on vacation with it right now.

►Good to know

Because this is human hair, it can't be returned once it's been worn, combed or installed. See our Return & Refund Policy. Questions about your hair? Reach out, I'm happy to help.
